February event. Enormous ice sculptures fill the city centre. Stages for performances, food stalls, and illuminations create a magical winter atmosphere. Attracts 2+ million visitors.
June festival. Competitive dance teams create elaborate choreography to traditional Ainu and modern music. Over one week, hundreds of teams perform in the streets. A celebration of movement and music.
The Summer Festival transforms Odori Park into an open-air beer garden for weeks. Live performances, food stalls, and carnival atmosphere throughout July-August. Winter is dormant-free with full celebration.
White Illumination (November-December) and Maruyama Illumination create magical light displays. Odori Park and surrounding areas are transformed into cathedral-like spaces. One of the most visually extraordinary winter experiences in Japan.
